Metal Stocks Drive Market Recovery Amid GST Council Meeting Anticipation
Indian equities staged a midday recovery as metal stocks outperformed, offsetting early losses. The Sensex climbed 139 points to 80,297 while Nifty 50 gained 57 points to 24,637, reversing Tuesday's downward trend.
Tata Steel led the rally with a 4.93% surge, followed by JSW Steel and Hindalco gaining over 2% each. The advance came despite pressure from IT stocks, with Infosys and TCS both declining over 1%.
Market breadth remained positive with 2,517 advancing stocks against 1,431 decliners on the BSE. Investors appeared to position cautiously ahead of key policy decisions from the GST Council meeting.
